Please know that we are all in a challenging time of uncertainty right now; however, we are doing everything in our ability to continue to provide quality dentistry to our community and patients in need. We keep your health and the health of our team a priority. With this in mind, we are following the guidance of the American Dental Association and Louisiana Department of Health, and effective on March 18, we will be scaling back our schedule to only treat essential dental procedures/surgeries. All non essential dental visits and procedures will be rescheduled. We have been in operation for over 50 years, and aside from Katrina, we have never had to scale back or make adjustments like this. It is a difficult time for all of us but we are doing this only as a last resort to keep our families and communities safe.
If you have an appointment scheduled between now and April 16, 2020, someone from our office will be contacting you to cancel the appointment and discuss protocol for rescheduling once we return to our standard schedule. If you have an appointment scheduled after April 16, we optimistically are leaving these appointments on the books as scheduled and will be in touch with you in the coming weeks.
For those who have recently visited our office. Thank you for allowing us to treat you and your families. We have always followed the leading practice and recommended sterilization and infection disease protocol. When we return to our standard schedule, these processes and safeguards will remain in full effect. During our reduced hours, we will be using the time to conduct deep cleaning and sterilization and will implement additional sanitation processes such as hourly cleaning of common areas, door knobs, pens, etc. in addition to our standard procedures.
We love and value our patients. In this unprecedented time, and as always, we are here to serve our community in the safest way possible for as long as possible. With this in mind, we will continue to monitor the situation, consult with experts in our field and will be in touch with you when it is deemed safe for all of us to return to work and continue to serve the patients we love and conduct the jobs that we love.
In the meantime, if you are facing a dental emergency or if you are experiencing pain, discomfort or have a general dental question or concern, please contact our office at 504-362-5270. We do not want you to suffer discomfort during this troubling time. If you have any questions at all about what constitutes an essential visit don’t hesitate to call us.
We appreciate your trust in us to care for you and your families. We will always remain committed to protecting you and meeting all your dental needs.
Thank you and we appreciate your patience with us during this unprecedented time.

Tufton Family Dentistry offers comprehensive dental services, including preventive exams and cleanings. We like to see children beginning around age 1 or 2. At the first visit, we will simply brush your little one’s teeth and help him or her become acclimated to the office. During future appointments, we can perform more thorough cleanings and check for signs of decay and misalignment. We also offer sealants and fluoride treatments.
For patients of all ages, we use advanced imaging to detect dental health issues in the early stages and recommend the most appropriate treatment. Patient education is important to us, and we will always help you make an informed decision about your treatment. Our procedures include:
